Stan Shapiro, M.A. As a former teacher and school psychologist, Stan Shapiro is the founder and director of both The Ontario Parenting Education Center, and Classrooms That Work, an organization that leads teacher workshops in Canada and the United States. In addition to Classrooms That Work: A Teacher's Guide to Discipline Without Stress, he is also the co-author of two books on child rearing: Practical Parenting, and Parent Talk. Stan has been a well-known child, family and marriage counselor and psychotherapist for the past 30 years, and has spoken on parenting issues in public and in the media.

Karen Skinulis has twenty years of experience working with children, parents, and educators. A certified Montessori Teacher, and the mother of two teenaged daughters she co-developed the Parent Talk Workshops program.  Over the last 15 years she has taught thousands of parents how to use effective democratic parenting strategies to raise their families.  She has been a guest speaker for organizations such as The Children’s Aid Society and The Kiwanis Club, as well as to schools, hospitals and mothers’ groups She has also provided “lunch & learn” programs on parenting to the employees of many corporations.  Karen is the co-author of three national bestsellers:  Practical Parenting, Parent Talk and Classrooms that Work.
